Nostalgia and interest in architecture were both satisfied.
During our tours in the Kinderdijk area, with visits to the Windmills and of course spending the night in Hotel Kinderdijk, we also visited Huis van Zessen and Huys in Kinderdijk. They are both small museums, and because we drove around we visited them, all by appointment, but already very contradictory because I am not such a museum visitor. It is worthwhile, but it is not a Rijksmuseum, it is all small and on topics related to the region. I personally found the Huys in Kinderdijk to be impressive. A large building from years ago. Because it is so beautiful in culture and nature and a beautiful view of the water, builders have built a large number of apartments, all of which naturally enjoy the nature and the view. I didn't ask for anything, but think it should have cost a few cents. This is in stark contrast to a cafeteria which can also be found in the vicinity of Huys te Kinderdijk, on Hogendorpweg. Oh well it is a small hut with a large cafeteria on it. It is useful, if you get thirsty or hungry from walking, you can go there. There is also a parasol and a seat outside. It is really a beautiful walking area, despite the villas on the van Hoogendorpweg. But we also went to the House of Zessen. Both museums are in fact too small to be listed separately, you have to be a real freak to stay there for a long time. I can imagine that in nature. If I must be honest there is another museum, the Blokweer museum mill, but not all mills are museums, and finally the Zwervers football association is also worth a visit because of the beautiful buildings. It is a bit strange somewhere that so many people come to see the Mills, and from far away. It is a cultural heritage, which is good. But it is strange that we detest all those other mills, which are now many more windmills in numbers.
View by appointment.
