The book 'The New Democracy' from 2012 by sociologist / philosopher Willem Schinkel taught me a lot about politics, the functioning of the rule of law and power relations between people.
By 'power relations' I mean: for every living being in this world much if not everything depends on the question with what other beings “it” comes into contact. This dependence only occurs when the possibility of power over the other is made possible. One of the most important questions in promoting a life of dignity is childishly simple and is: to what extent can the rule of law contribute more to the reduction of the power of one over the other without being a Leviathan?
