City Lab Hotel

Great hotel for a quick visit to Groningen. Rooms are really well arranged and all the furniture looks fresh and brand new. You will not notice you're living in an old shopping container. The surrounding area is still under the development so don't expect breathtaking views from your window, but I believe it is constantly improving.

I can give you only 3/5. The staff is nice but lack of experience. Like: 1. Nice staff 2. Good coffee in room 3. Good breakfast if you will receive it 4. Hotel is comfortable and have everything that you may need Don’t like: 1. You can’t contact anyone after 10 PM and before 10 AM, so if something happen you are on your own. I was staying there two nights, I order two breakfast but on second day I didn’t receive it as agreed, I start calling (around 8:00), no on answer so I decided to go on train without, I receive a phone almost two hours later. I didn’t get any kind of sorry for problems, they just listen to my complain and said, ok. On day when I check in I ask twice if the breakfast is for two days because I didn’t have to confirm card transaction but I receive answer that it is. 2. My table was dirty, I had was glue to it and I had to clean my shirt. 3. On day I come back around 4:00 PM it was still not clean, I sit down and start working on computer, cleaning lady just look that somebody is inside and basically run, if I didn’t corner of my eye that something is moving I wouldn’t even know that she was there. I had to run after here, so she could give me coffee capsules. She didn’t clean my room that day and I have no clue why. I have a feeling that she used my presence in room as a excuse. 4. Receiving invoice was a pain, I had to ask, call and email multiple times and I gave all data when I was checking in. 5. Towels was hidden in some kind of closet where water heater was hidden. I had to look for them. This hotel may be nice if you are traveling for concert but for business travel I don’t recommend it

City Lab Hotel in Gorningen is a super comfy hotel, its clean the space is awesome. This hotel is located at an old industrial area near the city of Groningen and only 10 minutes by bike from the city centre. You get to check what you would like for breakfast and its delivered in a box at the door of your room.

For a short stay really good accomodation (especially good price for 2 people)! Super nice staff. You can rent bikes for a suitable price (definitely recommended if you want to save time to go to the city). Bed is comfortable and you have a fridge :) (even 4 star hotels sometimes don't have a fridge). BUT only 4 stars, as the CityLab was super hard to find (we arrived by car without proper information that the entrance was hidden...). Side note: We helped one couple who waited for over an hour (did not reach the staff via their 24/7 hotline or mail) although the couple even arrived before closing time. I did not include this instance in my personal review but this might be a good example of varying service. Conclusion: Call before you arrive (for way and key) and rent a bike to see the city!
