Vianen, Centrum

After Vianen appeared in a documentary about the history of the Netherlands, I was curious what kind of town this is. We mainly know it from the traffic jam reports. It is a small town with a number of striking buildings. Like the town hall. That is special in terms of architectural style. The entrance gate is of course very special, also because locks can be placed just in front of the gate to keep the city center free of water at high tide. This is of course what you see a lot in these towns in this area. Tourism seems to mainly take place in the summer. In winter you can have a drink, but for a choice of an afternoon meal you have to look further. A very nice town. It's a bit smaller than I thought, so we quickly finished looking at the interesting objects. If you are in the area, be sure to enter it before you continue your journey.

Vianen, a small town wedged between the A2 and A27 motorways. An endless stream of cars comes daily along this beautiful town on the Lek in the province of Utrecht and the region Vijfheerenlanden. on 1 January 2019, Vianen will lose its independence and will then join the municipality of Vijheerenlanden, together with the municipalities of Zederik and Leerdam. But that will not change the beauty of this beautiful city. It is nice to wander there for a few hours on the beautiful Voorstraat and the smaller side streets with its many national monuments. Are you getting tired of getting that street in and out of the street, then you return to the newly renovated Voorstraat with its many terraces, just look out and enjoy the view of the many flower shops, which were their rich display on the street and if you happen to be there on Wednesday, there is a very pleasant weekly market.
