Hendrick Hamel Museum

An excellent, fascinating small museum dedicated to a little-known character from Dutch history. Well curated and with friendly knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended to anyone interested in the Dutch Golden Age, the Dutch East India Company, Korea, or incredible seafaring adventures.

Very interesting history about Hendrick Hamel and the korean culture!

Been here 2 years ago. Small but interesting museum for anyone who wants to know more about Korea / the Netherlands. Never knew that we Dutch also have a piece of history there. Had been there for a book launches on Sibpalki (historical Korean martial art / warfare) by Dr. Bok Kyu Choi. Then had a tour. The lady who explained, also read the old documents herself and therefore knew a lot of details. Not someone who starts a story, but really someone with knowledge. Awesome! If you are in the area, you should definitely visit!

Small but nice museum about the travel perils of Hendrik Hamel and the VOC. Good explanation and nice to be able to walk around in a 17th century house. Nicely displayed connection between the Netherlands and Korea (now South Korea).

Staff friendly, beautiful and impressive small museum. Nice deyail that our cousin like Hendrik Hamel posed for the photo above the mantelpiece. Was nice to get coffee there too😍😍
