I've been here many times over the years and it never gets old...
From the first visit to my most recent, Amsterdam Centraal has that aurora about it, not sure why...
The location of this place is right bang in the middle of where you need to go from here, it's the hub of most if not all of your routes in Amsterdam, to and from.
The place itself is of a massive scale, the structure is of envy, i haven't seen many stations like this, perhaps it before of late 1880s design, it has something most contemporary ones don't.
As most stations, it caters to all forms of stores for those who pass by.
Worth a visit if you're not even going to use.
The Station is efficient and a great place to start your exploration into Amsterdam. There is currently a ton of construction going on and the Station and the city are jam packed full of tourists. So, for people who don't like crowds - be prepared. But the service is easy to use, transport is almost always on time and can take you wherever you need to go in the Netherlands. And don't forget to head to the back side to get a view of the north side!
Never gets old to visit Amsterdam. The city is lovely and you'll have plenty of activities to choose from. Even during this pandemic the city is still enjoyable.
A very big and busy station, with national and international rail services connecting to local metro, bus, ferry, and tram connections. There's a good amount of signage pointing you to the different services and platform numbers, but do watch out if you're looking around because it is a busy station!
The station contains a large number of shops and restaurants although obviously most are currently closed.
Only downside to the station as it stands is that pedestrian access into the city centre isn't the best. There's a lot of busy roads to cross and not a huge amount of space, and there's currently construction work adding to the problem.
My Grandma Jackie sent me here for my 21st birthday in October of 1993. I was amazed at the quality of museums and the exposure to modern European culture that opened my eyes to new opportunities. It was the first place I bought weed legally via a menu for dope which at the time blew my mind. I had a fabulous time that inspired me to keep traveling though it would take near a quarter century before I could start doing it for myself regularly. I hope to some day return here and see it again.
