Great museum in Amersfoort, but the signage could be better. Some displays have no signs, leaving the visitor confused.

The current exhibition on the ground floor showing important works by painter Armando is impressive in its simplicity. Armando, who grew up in Amersfoort, seems to have returned home and a beautiful maquette of medieval Amersfoort which features together with the paintings, illustrates this nicely. In the nearby Elleboog church artfully displayed remnants of the former Armando museum located in this desecrated church. The city of Amersfoort can be glad that one of its major artists returned home. Very worthy of a visit!

Great museum. Varied collection of art. Most of the art are from artists that are part of Amersfoorts history. Personally my favorite section of the museum was in the attic where political art could be found. Art that challenges style and balance.

A really informative museum on the history of Amersfoort.

An amazing collection of the bits and pieces of the centuries that have passed through Amersfoort. From prehistoric remnants, early medieval civilization and its growth from a small trade city to a powerful trade entity, the passage of the years is here. The displays are elegant. The staff are welcoming. The entry price is quite reasonable at 12 euros per adult - especially when compared to Amsterdam's offerings. All in all some of the better hours I've spent in the Netherlands.
