Best place to chill in Amsterdam east. Lovely staff, cheap food, good beers, nice terrace. Run entirely by students too.

Alternative movie art house, run by students. Friendly atmosphere, good mix of alternative and classic movies. And for us, it's literally just around the corner ;)
