A lovely canal house how it would have looked previously . A very grand place with lots of history behind it. Easy to spend an hour wandering through the rooms and a nice little garden as well to appreciate the other houses around.

Spent some very quality time in here to have a feel of how Dutch aristocrats live in the old days. The place is quite small yet it is very worth going there to look at how the Dutch value art. Although it looks similar to British Aristocrat yet they have better taste in some aspects. The cafe within the museum is also another highlight of this place because it is so calm and great to have a quick tea/coffee session before leaving or continuing your visit.

Beautifully preserved Canal House. The staff were friendly and accommodating when we asked to change our reservation time. Certainly did not disappoint, was even more beautiful in real life!

The house was designed in 1672 by Adriaan Dortsman, the famous Dutch architect known for having created the Ronde Lutherse Kerk. There are four sculptures on top of the house, representing Ceres, Mars, Minerva and Vulcan.[2] The interior of the house has been renovated, and appears reminiscent of its look in the 18th-century, with wood paneling and stucco work. The upstairs features several paintings of Roman sports figures and a bedroom that is decorated with a Romanticism period painting of Italy. The house also has fake bedroom doors: the 18th-century owners desired to have symmetry in the interior design so they painted the real bedroom doors to match the walls and fake doors to appear real in a location where one would assume a door would be.

A fantastic well preserved Amsterdam Canal House from the gold days of Dutch empire. The preservation is superb. The details, the paintings, the furniture, everything is so good placed that you feel you back in time. The inner garden is very interesting to walk around. There isn't a guided tour unfortunately, but they have explanation notes. Is a museum, but you can also use it for private dinners or events. I've been here for a dinner with the USA ambassador for example.
