We had a 4-course dinner here with a social deal voucher. The whole seabass was amazing however the tiramisu was tasteless and dry. The kitchen staff was walking in and out of the front door to deliver food at the nearby restaurant. This was such an unpleasant feeling every time the door opened as the tables are just opposite from the door and bathroom. And being charged €6 for 1 glass of non-alcoholic wine is ridiculous. We will not return
So bad it became funny. If this review is too long for you, just look at the picture - that says it all.
We had made a reservation about 2 months ahead (and we were really looking forward to it because we actually had heard great things about Salt) but when we arrived (after being ignored for a couple of minutes first, but that gave us some time to have a laugh about the great display of fresh fish - see picture) we were oddly enough seated at a makeshift table at the takeaway desk. Felt a bit strange to start with , but when our table became crowded with people waiting for their order and the delivery guy (bike helmet still on) couldn't stop pacing around, it got a little annoying, so we asked for another table. We did actually get a different table as there were 5 tables open, so it was a mystery why we were seated in the delivery section to start with. My wife asked if they had any cocktails but the waitress said she was on her own today (on a Saturday night), so she could possibly whip up a gin and tonic (but only if we really wanted it), but we shouldn't expect anything fancy. We opted for wine instead, and the waitress actually thanked that she didn't have to 'make' a gin and tonic. We had the surprise menu and the biggest surprise was that the food really wasn't good. OK, not entirely true. The starter was pretty good (not great, but good). But then the lobster bisque was pretty much a fishy brine, followed by oysters which were pretty good as well. Bu then the main course was just plain bad. Dry (as in overcooked) and so fishy (as in not fresh) that even the risotto under the fish smelled like a fish market at the end of the day. When the waiter (someone from the kitchen helping out) asked if we had enjoyed the dish I managed a polite 'it was OK', but my wife (who only had managed to keep down 2 bites) said 'no, I'm sorry, it really wasn't good'. Strangely enough the waiter just carried on as if we just told him it was excellent and headed back to the kitchen. Like I said, so bad it was funny.. To be fair, the waitress was very friendly and did what she could, but the place was understaffed for a Saturday night. I have never given a 1 start rating but the food was substandard by any means, let alone for a mid-range restaurant.
i've ordered a plate of seafood for 2 people with 2 main couses which normally costs 60 euro with a 50% discount via social deal which wasn't bad but if i would have paid the full price would be disappointing as the lobster and some other ingredients didn't taste as fresh as they should, not saying they were bad.
what annoyed me the most is that i couldn't get a bit of hot water with lots of sugar dissolved in it to mix it myself with some cold water and lemon being told that it's not supposed to be that way ("de bedoeling") that we brew our own drinks which would have made me go away immediately if i didn't pay upfront.
the main course: fish was mediocre.
the dessert: creme brulee was very good.
Amazing seafood ,highly recommended.Chef knows his job well.
If you have to wait an hour and a half for your starter to arrive it’s unfortunately a big no
