Holiday Inn Amsterdam

a great hotel. we arrived at 6:30am and they let us check in, the rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. it's located right next to public transportation which is nice but there's nothing else really around it unfortunately. overall a great place to stay for weekend travelers

Lovely welcoming and helpful reception. We were upgraded to an executive room on the 15th floor, which was very spacious and had a fabulous coffee machine. We also had a balcony, which although was certainly far from being aesthetically pleasing, was very pleasant to sit out on in the evening when the area of town we were in looked it's best. The hotel was in a very convenient location, right next to the train and metro station which were a 20 minute trip into the city centre. Amstel park is only a 10 minute walk away and is a beautiful place to spend a sunny afternoon. We very much enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam, and I would very happily return to the Holiday Inn on my next visit.

These people have stolen over £300 from me. In March they told me 10-15 days, then extended recently to up to 90 days (!!!!) now they ignore me completely. I suspect they are planning to file for bankruptcy in order to keep people's much needed money. I have heard nothing but lies, excuses and silence from them. UPDATE: today, 12 May, after many more lies they had the cheek not only to offer voucher instead but this (threat that will now take even longer than 90 days!) - "If you choose not to accept this voucher and would like to have your money back I will have to note that this will take longer than the 90 days first spoken of. Unfortunately, we are not able to give you an exact date of expectation for this refund. We are aware that this is not the usual way of business and hope for your understanding." They are literally thieves and pretty shameless about it

They insulted me and my family just because we asked them if they could speak any language diferent than English just to better understand one of the parts of the bill that we had already paid. They told us that they would not explain anything to us if we didn't keep speaking in English (the receptionist words were: "or you talk to me in English or the explanation ends here and now". They turned their back on us and ignored our Will of talking with someone in the administration wich is a cliente right . Everyone in our family knows how to speak 3 idioms portuguese, spanish and French. We also talk in English without any problem. The only thing we asked for was that someone would explain us one of the parts of the bill in any other language of the idioms we know to understand de price. The price was fair and I am not saying anything about it, I just can't accept this attitude that demonstrates bad education, no values, zero profissionalism and above all lack of respect to other human beings. When we were leaving de hotel the same receptionist that told us "or you talk to me in English or the explanation ends here and now" talked to us in French somehing that we did not listened well because de exit door e kind of far from de Reception... So we can conclude that this receptionist always knew how to speak french and made fun of us all the time. You should be ashamed of what is going on in that reception.

Executive rooms are very nice standard rooms are ok. Service in the restaurant has been very slow but the food is nice. All staff that I met spoke good English and were helpful and polite.
