Traces of history In the time of the Romans there was already habitation in the nature reserve annex hamlet. This can still be seen in underground remains of Roman villas. The area was also used by people in the Middle Ages. Evidence of this is easier to see, for example on the low dikes that are still in the area. Later traces are even more visible, such as a country house from the 17th century and an avenues in the shape of a star from the 18th century. Fields, flowers and badgers Today, nature has a free rein between cultural history. For example, badgers live on Haanwijk. They find their food in organically managed fields full of field weeds, in the colors red (poppy), blue (cornflower) and yellow (goose flower). A short distance away, the estate offers a wide variety of different types of nature. Forest, meadows and stately avenues, it's all there.
