Bed & Breakfast Merelhof Oosterhout

Dear hostess, beautifully cared for and clean accommodation and a delicious breakfast. Also in a very nice place.

We had a wonderful stay in Merelhof. The B&B has been decorated with care and attention. The breakfast is delicious: fresh fruit, various sandwiches and spreads. Maartje makes a party of it every day. For us, Merelhof is a fantastic place to rest. The center of Oosterhout is within walking distance where several good restaurants can be found. There is plenty to see and do in the area. We are not yet tired of Oosterhout and the surrounding area and certainly not of Merelhof. We will definitely be back!

On July 21, 2020 we got married in De Schelleboom in Oosterhout. During the preparations, the owners of De Schelleboom, Joost and Leonie, pointed out the existence of this special Bed and Breakfast. We had already booked a hotel, but after seeing the Merelhof website we were immediately satisfied. The hotel immediately canceled and came into contact with the owner of the Merelhof, Maartje. Immediately upon first contact, Maartje came across as very friendly and hospitable. We therefore decided to stay at the Merelhof for two nights. We would arrive on the 20th, so that we already had all the stuff for the wedding in Oosterhout. On the 21st, the hair stylist, make-up lady and witnesses all came to the Merelhof to make the necessary preparations there, together with us. This was all done in consultation with Maartje. Everything was possible and she herself was very enthusiastic and helpful. On the day of arrival, the fridge was stocked with tasty cold drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), there was plenty of coffee and tea and the bathroom had very fragrant shower products ready. Cared for down to the last detail. Examples of the enormous hospitality and friendliness of Maartje: Maartje offered her help with preparations for the wedding. This was not necessary but very sweet. On the evening of the arrival day, July 20, we were served with a table full of hot and cold tapas, freshly baked bread and a pitcher of freshly made Sangria (the weather was nice). We just came back from Spain, so for us this really was a perfect dinner to start our mini vacation in Oosterhout. At dinner she early admits we wanted breakfast the next morning. We opted for 9 am and at 8.30 am Maartje was busy setting the outdoor table romantically. Again all fresh products, local products and fresh, still steaming bread. It was delicious. During the preparations she came to see what we looked like and asked if she could take a picture with us, because she thought it was special that we were wearing our wedding dress and suit. That afternoon we got married and had dinner in De Schelleboom. On our (nightly) return to the Merelhof, the interior was decorated with rose petals, there was a written card on the table and she had decorated the entrance of the Bed and Breakfast with a 'Just Married' balloon. As for the Bed and Breakfast itself, everything is taken care of down to the last detail. It is spotlessly clean and the bed is so comfortable that you actually want to book a few more nights. Inside it smells good and everything is of top quality (even silver cutlery!). When we are in Oosterhout or the surrounding area again, which will certainly happen, this will be our new permanent place. A charming B&B. Quietly located, yet close to the pleasant center of Oosterhout (5min walking distance). Very sympathetic and helpful owners. Absolute must!
