I have passed the Palace several times by bike. Had once a meeting for work there. Never realized you could have dinner as well. And what kind of dinner. Nice delicate food presented in a marvelous way and served by a kind and professional waiter!

My mom and I stayed at Het Paleis Groningen for a week before I moved to the city. I can’t even fully express how incredible our stay was. Everyone was so genuinely kind and welcoming. Being new to the city, we were unfamiliar with a lot of the ins and outs of living in Groningen. They were always willing and available to assist us in any way they could. They made us feel like we were staying with family. Truly, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The rooms and courtyard are beautifully decorated. The food is phenomenal. I’m from the US where we do bbq and ribs a lot, but the best I’ve ever had were at Het Paleis. I am forever grateful to the people we met, who cared for us during our stay, for making my start in Groningen better than I could have ever expected.

We stayed here with our dog for a 4 nights. We chose this place because it allowed pets. Upon arrival, we had to call with the owner to get in as the check in times are quite limited, however getting the key through a code was easy and this way we didn't need to have human contact during the pandemic. The room (110) however, was overall not the cleanest, seems it needs some renovation, especially the floor. The shower wasn't great as the curtains didn't stop the water from going on the floor, and it was a bit moldy on the shower walls. The room is next to the communal showers, and there is hardly any sound proofing, so you hear the other guests a lot. The most horrible part however was the housekeeper who opened the door without knocking while I was sleeping. When he noticed, he slammed the door without apologising. I then put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door when I went out to walk my dog. When I returned the sign was thrown on the floor of the room. The housekeepers also didn't use masks when they come inside to clean your room. Last point: the stairs outside to get to the room are metal and not the most dog friendly, as mentioned in another review. Overall, not really a hotel feeling, more a hostel feeling, and quite pricy.

Was there for a dance evening in one of the rooms. Was really nice, good floor for dancing, reasonable prices at the bar. Room was in comparison pricy though.

The room we were attending a lecture and a pubquiz was the right size, the lighting was good as well as the acoustics. We used foldable chairs that were very sturdy and the bar was fine. They didn't have my favourite drink but enough alternatives. The ambiance was suiting for the purpose of the room.
