Nice small campsite with fishpond, many cycling routes and things to see like a Zoo/Grebbeberg war cemetery and a trout pond nearby .
Last year we accidentally ended up at this campsite and we liked it so much that we decided (just booked) to return to this campsite again this year. Highly recommended for people who like peace and quiet and cycling. On arrival we were given many cycling routes. But this campsite is also suitable for people who want to fish. We are not fishermen ourselves, but we did enjoy the smoked trout with fries that you can buy from the neighbors - trout fishing. We had a very nice time here and experienced a relaxed pleasant atmosphere at the campsite, thanks to the friendly owners.
We are looking forward to it again!
Cozy little campsite. Nice quiet location. Atmosphere reminded us of France where we would normally have gone. Nice trips and beautiful bike rides over the dikes. At the campsite you can fish in the beautiful fishing pond, but we did not. Bought fish at the adjacent trout ponds. Good internet reception by fiber optic and nice clean sanitary building with nice showers. Administrators who are always there for you and ready for a chat. Really recommend! We will be back for sure.
Special (not entirely positive) experience at this campsite. When booking by phone, it was indicated that we would be standing on the field behind the campsite without electricity, we are with a small tent for a few days so no problem. To our surprise, the 10 fellow campers standing next to us on this field had power via extension cables.
At the checkout the owner wanted to charge us electricity, so not agree. The campsite was overcrowded (not incomprehensible given the corona conditions) in every nook and cranny and caravans and campers were put down in the parking lot, so it was very busy at the toilets and showers. Reception is also only open half an hour a day, owner was not visible and had to be called if you needed her.
Sunday morning we packed our tent and all our stuff and asked if the car could stay on the field (there could literally be 200 cars on it) so that we could cycle around the neighborhood before we went back home, so the parking lot was full we couldn't stand there.
After some time searching found the owner and asked her the question, "we don't do that here" and "you have to leave", disappointed and put the bicycles on the car, we see the owner peeking through the bushes to see if we are really go away.
In 35 years of camping we have never experienced this to be turned away as little children, a very disappointing end to our camping weekend.
We particularly respect that entrepreneurs try to earn a little extra and support this by camping as often as possible during the weekend.
However, by refusing a simple gesture that costs nothing and that does not bother anyone, we will certainly not return here and we cannot give a positive review (more than 90% of our reviews are 4 or 5 stars).
As the innkeeper, he / she apparently trusts his guests.
Addition based on the reaction of the camping owner 2 days of the review:
As a result of Mrs van Zwieten's response, I feel compelled to do something that I normally never do, respond to it, for the simple reason that facts are being denied.
We were aware in advance of the place outside the campsite (just paid the full rate) and the unavailability of electricity, that's right. Payment errors can happen (a lot happens at camping sites at the moment).
And then follows the passage that is the reason for this addition:
We were not angry, did not react angry and immediately placed the bicycles on the car at the first instruction of the camping owner and left the site.
We were certainly disappointed, our request was not unreasonable in our opinion, as there was no parking space outside the campsite and there was literally room for 100 cars on the campsite (see photo).
Our question was indeed answered with “we don't do that” and “you have to leave now”. We were both so surprised by this reaction that we will not soon forget it.
In addition, you did not refer us to outside the site to our question whether you knew a parking space but to Tiel, 7 km away, you cannot park outside the site at all, as the roads and verges are too narrow to do this safely. .
We will not discuss your viewing action after our conversation.
Fortunately we had a positive experience again last week, where we were allowed to leave our car for a few hours despite a full campsite to enjoy the area by bike.
Eleven wonderful days at camping 't Ommetje in Ommeren. Fantastic (requested) spot on the pond.
The campsite is quiet and located in a wonderful cycling area. Walking from the campsite is more difficult. It is certainly possible, but the narrow country roads are still fairly intensively used.
We were not able to assess the sanitary facilities, because it was closed (Corona time). There were a lot of campers on Ascension and Pentecost, because the overflow field was also used.
If these people would all have had to use the available sanitary facilities, we consider it very likely that this would have been inadequate.
Since everyone was responsible for this during this Corona time (also announced on the site), I grant the extremely friendly and helpful owners this extra income. After all, the season has started disastrous for these people. The question is whether it is useful to organize a private party in the time of 1.5 meters in places (washing-up area, etc.) where camping guests must also be at that moment.
We will definitely come back to this campsite. We therefore hope to be able / allowed to use the sanitary facilities. We wish the Van Zwieten family a good continuation of the camping season.
Accept that you can never please everyone. Do not spend time refuting the sometimes oversimplified and unfounded criticism people give. After all, you are also giving them a stage for a second time! But stay who you are: warm campsite owners with an eye for the guests!
