Monuta Uitvaartcentrum and Cemetery Rustoord

Every now and then I have to make a little pilgrimage across a cemetery for inner peace and tranquility. I have thus discovered the most beautiful in the area such as those on the Daalseweg and the Heilig Landstichting. Today, Wednesday 20 June 2018, I am going to Rustoord, which I already know a little bit because we buried aunt Doortje there about five years ago. She was my wife's brisk ninety-four-year-old aunt who, to mutual delight, often and happily visited us. She really enjoyed feeding the chickens and donkeys, helped my wife make the blackberry jam, enjoyed a good glass of wine with us and had a sense of humor. Maybe I will come across her grave and that of her husband Henk, who, unfortunately for Aunt Doortje, died fifteen years earlier. I don't really know where it is anymore. The rest home was built at the end of the 19th century, opened on July 26, 1897. A beautiful, stylish entrance, Art Nouveau elements, marble plaque with words of comfort by B. ter Haar. The cemetery itself is also stylish, well maintained, even now the grass is mowed. A huge surface, tall trees, shrubs, shrubs, plants and birds everywhere. It is a paradise for birds here, I especially see blackbirds flying up from behind graves. I walk along the outer paths first. A wide variety of graves from all times. The different segments have names of flowers, the paths are called Eeuwslaan, Remembrancelaan or Path of the forget-me-nots. From the outer ring I occasionally walk to the inner parts. As crazy as it may sound, there is much to see, discover and experience. The weather is pleasant, it is very quiet, except for the two men who are busy with maintenance, I do not meet a living soul. I'll be done after an hour. I was not able to find Aunt Doortje's grave, to be honest I did not look really well either. Too often distracted by other objects and worries. It doesn't matter, I sometimes can't find the living either. They are in my head anyway. As now also aunt Doortje.

A nice quiet cemetery, well maintained and nice to visit.

Beautiful place to give birth to your loved one and to say goodbye to him / her. If you choose to be buried, this is the most beautiful cemetery in Nijmegen. The staff always have a listening ear and a cup of coffee, on the days and hours that they are there. The staff is there from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4.30 pm. The weekend they are only there if there is a funeral.

A very beautiful and large cemetery. And well maintained. There is always someone doing maintenance.

Beautiful funeral center with beautiful monumental elements. What I find very special are the butterflies at the front of the building.
