A beautiful cemetery with very beautiful statues

Visiting a graveyard is something they like to do for some. There are even those who are encouraged to get beautiful, meditative and profound thoughts about life and death and to calm down. In addition, you have many who should absolutely have none of it and only shudder and horror at the thought of it. I clearly belong to the first category and like to visit a beautiful cemetery now and then, both close to home and far away on holiday. Just what it gives you about the differences between cultures, religions and their rituals makes such a visit very worthwhile. Today, March 7, 2018, I visit one of the most beautiful Catholic cemeteries in Nijmegen, the one on the Daalseweg, near the center. This has been here since the late 19th century and is not only an oasis of peace amid all the hustle and bustle of the city and the large purchasing centers located in this district, but also has a wide variety of graves, gravestones and ornaments. The large and massive trees, the thoughtful and smart planting of shrubs and other crops, plus the enormous wall around it all provide the right intimate atmosphere and tranquility that such places need. Walking, running around, occasionally photographing, I am almost all alone, I imagine myself on another planet. In the background only vague and sporadic sounds of the city. I take my time, let my thoughts run wild and in the meantime discover the most beautiful things. After a good two hours I leave this beautiful place, again able to withstand the blows of stupidity and of the world, by standing cackling on my hands.
