Tribune Sportpark Hilversum

A piece of history of Hilversum and of Amsterdam Olympic Games. It is constantly keep clean, tidy and it goes under monthly maintenance

It was designed in 1919 by architect Willem Marinus Dudok. When Dudok designed the new municipal sports park, he drew a wooden stand. Viewed from the Soestdijkerstraatweg, this had to form a "festive" front. The central part of the symmetrical building is covered. Above the entrance was a buffet with above that a place for an orchestra. This oldest wooden grandstand in the Netherlands was the backdrop for the equestrian games of the Olympic Games in 1928. After a period of decline, the building was restored in 1996. The flagpoles and the original colors have been reduced. Unfortunately, due to the use of incorrect fire-retardant agents, the woodwork started to rot again, so that it had to be replaced again in 2010. The building and playing field are used by the Gooise Athletics Club. The surrounding sports park is built on as a business park.
