We had the pleasure of eating at this local joint. It was an interesting experience. The wine was served without the waiter offering the host of the dinner party to taste it first. The bottle was opened and the wine was distributed. The direct Dutch way sharing wine. Three glasses provided had to be returned as lipstick of other users were prominently placed on the glasses. Perhaps this is a Dutch way of sharing love, but the party appreciated the corrective action of management providing clean glasses, although the wine in the dirty glasses was poured into the new glasses. It was not replaced. It must be a Dutch thing not to open a new bottle as it would probably be seen as a waste of good wine. Despite the oversight of the waiter, who appeared to be a bit perturbed as it is obvious that he really doesn't like to serve clients and be in the hospitality industry, eating at this restaurant was a nice experience. Call it a mild form of Fawlty Towers. Entertainment at its best. The food was reasonable and the triple Belgian beer tasty. If you are in the area and like to be part of the Dutch, with their directness and dislike of waste, this is the place to be. If you expect friendly, warm service, drink a few Belgian beers first and ask for the female owner who is lovely and client oriented. Or, just ignore this review and enjoy a game of biljards with Dutch frietjes in this wonderful area of the Netherlands.
