Pieterskerk, Leiden

What does the American founding fathers, Franklin D. Roosevelt and both Bush presidents have in common? The where all related to the British Pilgrim refugees that moved first to Leiden in 1609 before making the journey and history in the USA. This English church contains the dead body of the pastor of the Pilgrims, John Robinson . He was influential within the Pilgrim community of Leiden and the Dutch.

Visited the church and came to the cafe just beside the church to chill for a while. Nice Dutch apple pie as it was served warm. The small glass of dessert wine was amazing too.

Very nice old church, it’s empty and has been transformed into an events space. 4 euros ticket to visit. The interior is very well maintained
