Protestantse Kerk Tienhoven

The boats are hidden under the tarpaulin, the fishing club season is over, autumn colors the trees, the black peat water is still. Across the street the cafe where the terrace is always occupied at other times. It is quiet in Tienhoven. Until a car parks in front of the church, the gravel grinds and crunches. A door opens, votes. Tomorrow is the weekend, when cyclists pass by, some cars. When they are over, peace returns.

The name suggests that Tienhoven started out with 10 farmsteads (owned by bog colonists). In the surrounding moors, the peat was extracted to below the (today's) water table, so that the landscape is now characterized by lakes. Small unspectacular, but pretty and well-kept church. The organ with its baroque decor is wonderful and fills the room with its mild sound.
