We visited 'De Erebegraafplaats' in October 2017. Now, May 2018, we are again visiting The Netherlands, and this time during a very special time of remembrance, the 4th and 5th of May. Could anybody tell us if there is a Special Service to remember those that fell in WW-II Resistance, on Friday the 4th at the Erebegraafplaats?, and if so, at what time this will service start? Thank you in advance!
Yeah! Finally I was able to visit this special place. Lovely on the bike from the Zaan region braved the elements before my visit. Knowing what Hannie Schaft and her hair all went through to liberate our country; that is inconceivable. It really felt so good to be able to be extra grateful for my freedom in that place. Tribute to the foundation that preserves the area so valuable!
Been there several times, immensely impressive, confronting and sad too. It is a beautiful place not to forget what a terribly black period that was.
What can be said about this ..... You have to go there yourself and experience. That feeling cannot be described. A real honor field for those who deserve honor. Those who are restrained live forever.
A very quiet place. If you are lucky, you are alone here and can look at everything in peace. At the entrance there is a list of people who found their last rest in the cemetery. Unfortunately only in Dutch, but a very nice idea.
