Sittard is a Dutch city under the jurisdiction of Limburg province, only 3 kilometers from the border with Germany. The area has been inhabited by humans since 5000 BC and was granted city privileges in 1243. During World War II, the city developed rapidly and is currently an important industrial city in the Netherlands.
Although the historical city of Sittard is not very large, it has accumulated a lot of historical sites, including market squares, ancient churches, and elegant houses. The city has retained part of the city walls. Although the history is ups and downs, it still has a charm. It is the best representative and witness of history. There are three cathedrals in the city, namely St. Peter's Church, St. Michael's Church and the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. The sacred church is a place of prayer for citizens on weekdays. The Museum Het Domein, located in the school building of the 19th century, is a museum focusing on contemporary art, urban history and archaeology. The cemetery where the 239 fighters of the Commonwealth countries were buried is also worth a visit. The youngest fighters also won the Victoria Cross in World War II.
A beautiful small yet impressive cherry. We often visit cherries and discovered that it looks quite bright and that one soon gets the impression of devoutly turning to oneself. At the same time, this size is impressive and has left a relaxed impression on us. We are happy to light a candle here again.
