Quite expensive but the service and ambiance of the interior is worth the price

Friendly staff but very unprofessional barber. Booked an appointment on 12/17 at The Urban Barber in Tomas Morato at 11am with barber Mike. There’s no question he is a skilled barber, hence the reason why he is my go-to barber. But when I got there prior to 11am and waited until my appointment time, I was informed by the staff that he won’t be coming in and that he is on his way to Valenzuela. Really?! Apparently I found out that Tuesday was his regular day-off. But he was asked by the staff the prior day if he wants to work on Tuesday and he said yes, hence setting the appointment. I also found out that the staff approved the day-off of another barber Nap on the same day considering Mike would be coming in as a replacement. So Mike could have just said no on working on his off day and I could have re-scheduled my appointment on a different day or decided to just book it with a different barber. But instead he accepted a booking, and at the end wasted my time going there and leaving us all (including the staff) hanging. He doesn’t even have the courtesy of calling in that he is not coming in and waited until the staff called him. Mind you, this is the SECOND time this happened to me with the same barber. The first time I scheduled an appointment with Mike, he also did a no show. It was not his day-off but the appointment day was the day after payday. I was told by the staff that apparently some of the barbers (especially Mike), would not show for work the day after payday, as they are likely hung over after spending their money. I somewhat understand and I definitely would not want somebody with a hang over cutting my hair. Again if I were in his place, then I wouldn’t accept any appointments if I know I will be drinking the night before and will likely not work the day after. This will avoid wasting other people’s time instead of committing on something I cannot deliver. Or I would at least have the decency to call in, to inform all affected parties that I could not make it in. On both instances, another barber RA was able to accommodate me and luckily he didn’t have any appointments at that time or his appointments fell thru. RA may be less tenured compared to Mike, but he is as skillful and capable barber as Mike. Kudos to RA for stepping up. I requested the staff to have the owner/s contact me regarding this incident and it’s been 2 days now and I haven’t heard from anyone. It’s concerning how customer issues as serious as this, are not being dealt with properly by management and/or the owner/s. The Urban Barber is touted as a hip and upscale barbershop with a cool concept of providing customers with added services like a complimentary drink, basic massage, etc. I was expecting exceptional service given its high price point. Unfortunately, I did not get what I paid for. Too bad since the place is clean with a nice ambiance alongside a mural backdrop, and a couple of friendly staff. But ambiance don’t cut hair, barbers do. So what’s the point of going to a barbershop if you cannot even get its most basic service, a cut? Appears to be another overrated and overpriced shop.

Had my haircut my Nap and the team here. They were super friendly and welcoming from the get go. Other places in QC might offer slightly lower prices but its worth every penny here. You’re not just paying for a haircut but an experience. You’ll leave this place with a confidence in your cut and a spring in your step. Oh and did I mention you get a free beverage with every cut ? Rock on guys!

Decent barbershop that has accommodating staff, haircut packages to suit your needs, and comfortable atmosphere.

Brilliant customer service. The barber was attentive to what style I wanted, and very skilled in delivering exactly that. Reasonable pricing considering cuts also include hair wash, refreshing facial treatment, massage, and a beer!
