Nasty Rooms and Scamming Staff – Scammed for 8000 pesos! Harrassed for a month! BEWARE OF THESE PEOPLE – ESPECIALLY A STAFF MEMBER NAMED JEFF. Rooms were nasty, the sewage smell was pungent, not much of a toilet, no paper, barely any water pressure. LOTS of cockroaches. Asked the lobby where I could find a motorbike rental shop. An employee named Jeff rented me a bike he told me was from a shop down the street; later on I discovered it belongs to him (so no insurance), which he lied about over and over again. Jeff charged me 600 pesos per day for the bike (I found out later the regular price is 300-400). When we got to the bike he tried to tell me it was only for 12 hours. I argued that it was supposed to be 24 hours, and he conceded. This should have been my first red flag to the truth of Jeff's character... After renting the bike 2 weeks with no incident, I discovered I was being overcharged and went to return it, but he offered to rent it to me for one month at 6000 peso. I began to like the guy and took him out to lunch a couple times, even took him out for beers one night. I guess Jeff took this to mean I was a rich foreigner; a couple days later, my motorbike disappeared. Ignition was locked and Jeff was the only other person with a key.... From there I endured a month of harassment and intimidation. Calling me ten times over and over while I was working. Sitting there on his motorbike outside my new apartment for hours, waiting for me to arrive or come out...Pounding on my door early in the morning over and over to “talk.” Demanding 60,000 pesos for a new motorbike. For an entire month I argued and resisted, only handing over a 6000 peso “deposit” to assure them I wouldn't flee before the bike was found. Not only did the hotel owner not offer sympathy or protection from his greedy employees but he even joined in on the harassment – dropping manipulative comments about the motorbike I had “lost.” Jeff and his wife have friends and family at all the police stations and barangays, so no help there either. Finally, I pointed out the contract had no clause about theft and mentioned talking to a lawyer. They left the meeting immediately, and then suddenly....surprise surprise....three hours later, the motorbike had been found. The bike had a bunch of cosmetic damage, some of which was old scratches that were already there – the damage was conveniently fixed at their friend's motorbike shop. Of course, they passed the responsibility on to me, this being in the contract. They held my driver's license ransom, even though they already had copies of my passport, thus attempting to stall up my visa process, in order to get me to stop arguing my side. In the end, they kept 8000 pesos total I'd given them as deposits on the bike (2000 when I first picked it up and 6000 I gave to assure them I wouldn't flee). I got tired of the hassle and stress and I walked away just to get my license back and not have to look at them anymore. TLDR: If you are a foreigner, especially, I'd be VERY VERY CAREFUL about staying at this hotel. At best, they let their employees take advantage of naive customers and if anything goes wrong, they will do everything they can to make sure they sap every penny out of you they can. At worst, their staff are running active scams on foreigners and will try hard to intimidate you into paying up. If you aren't prepared for a long and stressful battle, they may get you for a lot more than 8k.

visited here at 2006 It is good to rest quietly. The younger friends in the neighborhood took a coral somewhere to dive and pulled it and sold it to the tourists. 14 years ago, he might be an adult now and stay in a hotel.
