The name of the river is Minuluan and the present village upstream was named after it. The City of Talisay was formerly started as a municipality but originated from the small settlement called by the natives "minuro". It was already a fishing village when the Spaniards arrived in Negros Island. The place was later called "Minuruan" which means "a settled area". The official name now is Minuluan and this bridge is part of the National Highway.
