This library is highly suggested. They provide good book references that can really help students in their research. The building is fully air-conditioned so that students can really relax while they were studying. The books are also well organized or ordered based on different categories. They even has a playroom for kids and has some game boards like chess, scrabble and such.
I recently donated books to this library and I am very pleased that I did so! This allowed me to have a close first look at this public library, while helping to stock up on their book collection.
They have two buildings: one is the main building in Bgy. Sto. Nino, and the second, is their branch in Rotary Homes in St. Joseph Village. Their main building is new, around 2 years old. Its very clean, airconditioned in all 5 floors, managed by real professional librarians, there is internet connected PC terminals and free wifi internet too!
Its located in front of the Paranaque Science High School and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). The library is very busy, averaging around 300 to 500 visitors daily, comprised mostly of students. Operating schedule is Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm.
If there is any downside to the library, I would say its the location. When I first checked it out on Google Maps, I was slightly disappointed to see where it was. The location is in an area where tourists or residents would not consider as a middle income or an upscale neighborhood. I worried that I may not be able to get there. After one try though, I was able to find the place easily and the road was fortunately big enough to accommodate the van I used to bring in the books.
Despite initial concerns about the location, I would say I am very pleased about the effort (and budget put in) by the Paranaque City government in providing its residents (and outside visitors) with a very good public library. Definitely better than what I expected!
