St. Michael the Archangel Parish/Parokya ni San Miguel Arkanghel

The St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church (Parokya ni San Miguel Arkanghel) is the mother church serving the Roman Catholic faithfuls in the Municipality of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur. It was established in 1965. It is located in Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur besides Santa Maria Goretti Diocesan School. The parish together with San Jose Parish in Dumingag, Birhen sa Fatima Parish in Josefina, San Vicente Ferrer Parish in Molave and San Isidro Labrador Parish in Tambulig formed the Salug Valley Vicariate of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian, a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz. Presently the Most Rev. Emmanuel T. Cabajar, C.Ss.R is the bishop. Currently, the parish priest is Rev. Fr. Rey Mutia, DCP and the parish vicar is Rev. Fr. Jonnie Atetio. Masses are said in Sinugbuanong Bisaya/Cebuano.
