Balamban Elementary School

Balamban Elementary School is situated in the heart of Brgy. Bag-ong Balamban, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur, an agricultural community located five kilometers away from the town proper of the Municipality of Mahayag. The barangay is bordered by the barangays of Lower Salug Daku, Santa Cruz, Pugwan, San Jose, Tumapic and by the Salug Daku River which separates it from Brgy. Poblacion. Brgy. Bag-ong Balamban is relatively flat with gentle slopes near the bank of the Salug Daku River. Around 80% of the land area are ricefields and the rest are for residential areas and for planting vegetables, corns, bananas and coconuts. Balamban Elementary School is located in a 10,000 square meter site donated by the late Mrs. Acureta Entingan on 1953. A little more than half of it was used for school ground and the rest was used as a ricefield to support the operation of the School. Balamban Elementary School has six academic buildings, 10 academic classrooms and five structures utilized fully for the greater goof of the school community. The school is one of the most competitive and can be considered as among the most effective in the area - having been constant winners in contests and competitions as high as National level. As of August 2019, it has 10 teachers and 260 enrolled pupils.
