Nice short 10min ride to Samal. Only 10 peso each way. If you take your car or motorcycle the wait can be very long, but walk on passengers usually depart with just a short 10-20min wait. Lines can get long and it can be hot in the daytime, but it's a short crossing. Easy to catch a ride on either side by taxi, or Jeepney (Davao) or motorcycle (Samal) Barges run 24 hours but slow to every 30 min in the late evening and then hourly from around midnight until 4a. The rest of the time they depart every 10-15min

This the Davao side of the Samal Ferry Terminal, if you want to go to Samal Island by car or motor bike then this is your only option. Perhaps the ferries themselves may have seen better days but as far as the safety record of this ferry crossing goes I personally have never heard anything adverse over the last ten years. There is usually a visible security presence at the terminal itself which is reassuring and it is possible to buy some basic food items while you are waiting to board. A wait is sometimes possible at busy periods. The Party Boat is also docked here if you want to book a pleasure trip.
