SULTAN ABDULMADID MARUHOM GRAND MOSQUE! Sultan Abdulmadid Grand Mosque is one of the most beautiful mosques in Lanao del Sur and among the most visited mosque in Mindanao; located at Poblacion Marogong, Lanao del sur, it was built on the 1960s by Datu Abdulmadid P. Maruhom, Panondiongan of Binidayan right after he was elected Municipal Mayor of Tubaran LDS. The design of the mosque is from the ideas and originally planned of Sultan Abdulmadid Maruhom who also acted as an engineer in building the mosque, he hired an expert okir designer from Wato in the good name of Hadji Nasser a renown okir designer also who made the design of the 2 minarets of this mosque, Haji Elias "Bali" Badron has big contribution in supervising the construction of the mosque, After the complete construction of this mosque, Mayor Abdulmadid Maruhom decided to establish an Igma and Taritib of Marogong and he has enthroned the first Sultan of Marogong, this was after he graduated as Municipal Mayor of Marogong. Datu Haroun "Actor" Tampugao Maruhom son of the predecessor was elected Mayor of Marogong after the term of his younger brother Sultan Amron T. Maruhom. He; "Actor" who flourished and made this mosque more beautiful by completing the pending and unfinished sections in the mosque, his big contribution in the building is the first quality paint of the mosque which he hired expert painters outside of Lanao del Sur and used his personal money. The tiles that are used inside and outside of the Mosque is imported from Surabaya City and Bandung City Indonesia, of the efforts of Datu Ontay, two times that Datu Ontay imports tiles from Java, the green-one that is used in the four parallel of the mosque is from Manado City Sulawesi Indonesia, the money used for these materials from the capital of Datu Ontay. I was there and I asked him, what is the meaning of this name?. He humbly replies that this mosque is located in the east part of Asia, I knew him that he can't tell me to name the mosque from his name because he was a very humble leader. Then he went inside his house, the people around that time agreed to name the mosque from the name of the Sultan.
