A Jeepney is one of many large, colorful, open backed bus type vehicles locals use to get around. You can hop on/off anywhere along its route, and the fee is quite cheap, even between cities. It's not the most comfortable of rides, but it'll get you from Lobac to Tagbilaran City for 27 pesos (although it seems as though the locals paid 15 pesos each and they just quoted us the same price as the bus), and they leave on a regular basis so you won't wait long. When we arrived we had just missed the big local bus (27 pesos, and stops a bit down the road from the jeepney area), so we decided to take the jeepney, which departed a minute after we got on. The interior is relatively small, and has padded seats which line each side and face the middle. That's not a very comfortable way to sit, but it does mean there is plenty of leg room when it's not full. The roof is pretty low, I'm 183cm and my head touches if I sit up straight, but I slouch when I sit so it was fine for me. They stop continuously along the way to pick up and drop off passengers, but I was told it still ends up being faster than the big bus (which I seriously doubt). They also have multiple tiny stools in the middle, which means they pack people in like sardines if the demand is there... Unfortunately such was the case for us (as seen in the photo, and it got even more crowded), so the second half of our trip was even less comfortable as we were squished from all sides. We took the big local bus to Lobac, and it was significantly more comfortable, and they only take on enough passengers as there are available seats. The Jeepney dropped us off at Plaza Rizal, but continued with a few passengers, so you should verify with the driver and see how close to your destination they will get. We took a tricycle the rest of the way to our accomodation (10 pesos per person). Overall, I would definitly take the big bus if both options were presented at the same time or if it only required a short wait, but would take the jeepney again if the alternative was a 30-45+ minute wait for the next bus... Either way, it's only around $0.60 USD, so it's a pretty good deal.
