St. James Church

The oldest church un Zamboanga del Norte. It is believe that the archetic was Jose Rizal the Philippine National Heroe However, the church was not maintain properly. The beauty inside the church was covers by dirt, cab waves and stain.

St.James The Greater Parish is one the oldest church in mindanao.The replica of St.James image and Nuestra Senyora Virgen del Pillar of Dapitan both lacated at the side altar are original from Spain arrived in Dapitan around 1600.Also in the main altar(right side) you'll find a silver night lamp previously used by Jesuit priest around 1600.Upon entering the entrance door at the left side you'll notice a sign stating where our national hero Dr.Jose Rizal used to stay during holy mass.Currently a move is made to make Rev.Fr.Paliola a Jesuit priest in Dapitan to be Saint.Talking about experience its a church you would not forget to visit in your lifetime.
