It was around 3pm on a weekday when we dropped by Rocha's Delicious Puto in Marikina. Situated along a street lined with houses, the usual hustle and bustle seemed to be quited down by the intense Manila heat. Famous for their orangey- sticky Puto or steamed rice cakes, these deletactable bite-sized pieces seems to be really good when paired with a hot plate of pancit canton or pancit guisado. The Puto is moderately priced at PHP 145.00 for 50 pieces and is definitely more delicious than your mainstream bakeshop fare (yes you Goldilocks and Red Ribbon). I have done my research and Rocha's seem to be leading as Marikina's hidden gem of a Puto versus it's main competitor Ate Fely's which I have yet to try. I am only giving it 3 stars as the Puto flavor is lacking but the texture is great. I just feel that the Puto mixture has been watered down and lacks the flavor I am expecting in a great Puto, though the big slivers of cheese was a surprise.
