Secret Spot Siargao Hostel

This place is amazing. It is like home and I loved the people there. We planned to stay for 2 nights and it became 2 weeks. The place is super clean and has the best price. The employees really watch out for you and I would always spend another two weeks there. Thank you Secret Spot Siargao!

The best hostel I stayed in Siargao. Clean, fun and friendly. Des and team do an excellent job to keep this hostel welcoming for travellers. Thankyou for an excellent stay - will definitely return.

The owner here is an incredibly condescending woman who makes the hostel guests feel uncomfortable. She complains about guests online reviews in front of other guests. Expect a lot of rules, the WiFi to be cut at 10pm and generally to be treated like a child during your stay. Never in my life did I think, at the age of 27, that I would be threatened with group punishment for the actions of another adult in a place I was paying for (see photo). Furthermore, the place is highly disorganised. The location is far from town or a nice beach, so be prepared to rent a scooter. The manager is a lovely girl, but she is not able to undo the negative culture that the owner brings to this place. I recommend you read some owner responses below for a good indication of these things. The response to Mathilde's review is gold!

Was my first time staying in hostel . The vibe was super cool the staff is super friendly and the place is everything you need from a hostel ( clean , beautiful, feels like home )

I had a real difficult time deciding how many star I should give. Because hana is literally amazing, you can tell that she really cares. However, my stay at the hostel did not fulfill my expectations. I chose this place because of the free yoga, when I got there there was no free yoga and the owner refused to give me the same discount she was giving to the people who just booked. I felt like they were taking advantage of the fact that I booked in advance and that my stay was not worth the money I was spending. I witness many awkward situation where the owner would pick a fight with the staff as she was doing so in the common area. This is a super uncomfortable situation. Also, someone from the staff had lices. The place is also pretty far away from GL so a scooter in necessary. I still had a great time there, the beds were comfy, clean, the place is pretty nice and the cat and dogs are very loving. Really enjoyed the yoga when it was available.
