Batad, Banaue Rice Terraces

A nice place to visit in spring. Although it’s far away from Manila,I remember it took me 9 hours to take the night bus to reach but totally worth it. The rice terraces are part of UNESCO World Heritage inscription. Also, if you travel around Ifugao, you can find out a lot of aboriginal and traditional art and crafts. Advise: signal is very weak there, it would be better if you can contact your hotel/ hostel in advance and ask them to wait for you at terminal station. Highly recommended to check this place out!

I had a most awesome opportunity to speak with one of the local elders. He shared with us his experiences, how his children had all grown up, how vast his land was, how time has changed both people and the environment. It was a very interesting talk. The natural springs from the mountains allow them to plant and harvest rice all year round. Simply amazing!
