This place was amazing. So glad we stumbled across it on trip advisor (it's not highly advertised, but really well reviewed by everyone who's been there, us included). We literally made the trip to the area just to go see this place and it was totally worth it for such a unique and immersive cultural learning experience. As far as we know, it's the only living museum of its kind in the PH, but I really hope this model is adopted elsewhere (here, home, and abroad). Such a great way to learn about and preserve a culture. Since they do have to prepare so much in advance, like the carabao and rice planting and the food they serve you (delicious btw), and arranging for the elders to come, they do need to know you're coming. Just call or text the number listed on TripAdvisor or here on Google maps (no need to arrange a 'tour' - when we were there the going rate was ₽700 ea and totally worth every piso!). They do a 10am and 2pm every day except Mondays and they can combine groups. We texted the night before for the 10am and another group called while we were there for the 2pm on the same day and both were fine, so they don't seem to need a lot of notice, but they won't be around if they don't have any bookings (and might not have enough supplies if you pop by and join a group that's made a booking), so avoid disappointment and take the moment to text/call before you go. Bonus: we totally ended up tacking on a Boracay daytrip as a side-trip, "since we were in the area." From the reviews we read, most people do it the other way - stay on Boracay and do a daytrip to get away from the beach and crowds. If you're doing it from Boracay, just hop on any ferry back to Caticlan and get a trike there for your 10am or 2pm booking. The trike drivers all know the way and it shouldn't take more than about an hour total from the port on Boracay, depending on the ferry you choose. No need to fall for any of the 'all inclusive' package scams that overcharge. Either arrange for the trike driver to come back and get you in about 2hours or take the lovely walk down to the main road and flag the next one going your way

It was an amazing experience and a very hands on look into the traditional culture of that area. My daughters and I learned so much and had a much needed break from the overcrowded beaches of Boracay. The museum supports worthy causes such as preserving traditional village culture and helping the elders of the community earn their own income. You can contact Motag Living Museum through Facebook to schedule a visit.

Motag Living Museum is an educational, interactive and fun experience that adjusts your perspective on the privileges of the modern age. The people here are full of kindness, humility and happiness. It is a worthwhile experience. The cost was 700 php per person. We paid 100 php for a tricycle from the Caticlan Port. This place runs on donations and your money will be put to good use.

Traveled from boracay to go to the museum during their normal hours, Tuesday at 2pm. Museum was closed. Had called earlier in the day, person on phone did not mention they would be closed. Wasted time and money to travel over. Disappointed.

A museum worth visiting, don't miss it when you visit Boracay. The itinerary can be booked with the my boracay guide. The price is 1200 Philippine Pesos, including the hotel shuttle to the port, the port to Aklan ferry ticket, the port to the museum round-trip, visit and guided tour, it is very cost-effective. After the tour, you will have a better understanding of the traditional culture, living, eating and farming methods of the Philippines. Those who like in-depth tourism must come and see.
