Amihan Hotel

I wonder why it's listed as a restaurant. Anyway, the rates in the picture are for a 24-hour stay, as of Nov 2019. It's an OK place, not crowded, close to the Baler museum. You get a sparkling clean room, a soft bed, linens, and a towel for the price. You bring your own toiletries but Mercury Drug is just one block away. There aren't any free meals but Greenbucks, Gerry Shan, and Yolly's Seafood - all excellent buffet places - and Chloe's Pizza are all literally next door. Now for the bad part, although keep in mind, you really do get what you pay for considering that the rates are very cheap. Security is a bit loose. I didn't see any CCTV cameras. The main door was an aluminum spring door and a heavy wooden one that was open 24 hours, ready to welcome guests but also burglars. There are no guards whatsoever. The room doors were held close by thrift-store bought locks "Made in China" on the outside and the cheapest kitchen cabinet bolts from the inside. Rooms were thoroughly run down. The window screens were torn - mine was pulled aside altogether. The paint on the ceiling was chipped. The water reservoir on the toilet was gone and you have to flush it manually with a pail of water. Overall, compared to the more hip ang fancy hotels and homestays in Baler, you won't have fond memories here. But if you manage your expectations as per the rates you're willing to pay, you won't have bad ones either. It's really just a quaint old Filipino "bahay na bato" converted into a transient house. It's nothing more than a place to stay for the night, and on that front it does serve perfectly. By the way, I'd hate to badmouth but the other review by Cy Juan is not accurate. Amihan Hotel, or at least the one we are reviewing, is not at a seaside location, which should be obvious from its location here on Google Maps. It has a second floor but the views do not reach anything close to seaside. If anything, the hotel is facing inland towards the town. The pictures are also inaccurate.
