The best time for a visit here would be summer or when the weather has been sunny, because the water will be so perfectly clear or otherwise muddy colored when it's (or have been) raining.

If you are planning to go for a swimming, prepare yourself for a heavy traffic. Heavy traffic days usually starts every Friday until Sunday. I suggest you buy food or chicha before you leave your place. Food that they sell are pretty much expensive. What you can buy their are ice and coals or fresh fish like Tilapia etc...
