The building at ulica Czapliniecka 72, which is currently the seat of Second High School for them. Jana Kochanowskiego, was built on the initiative of the Power Plant Construction Combine and put into use in 1980. The history of the school dates back to the 1960s. At that time, the demand of the city and the surrounding area for workers in the building sphere was fully satisfied by the only Vocational School in Bełchatów, popularly referred to as "Budowlanka". With the commencement of the construction of the Mining and Energy Basin, it became necessary to expand the Bełchatów-based vocational education - construction.
