Mass graves of the victims of Nazism murdered in the Leszno poviat during World War II On Aleja 21 October, near the parish cemetery, between the blocks there are three war graves, sometimes called the "little cemetery". The first one - to the left of the entrance - is the grave of twenty citizens of Leszno and the poviat shot on October 21, 1939 at Kościuszko Square in Leszno. On the right side of the entrance there are the remains of 339 people murdered in the Rydzyna forests in 1939-1944. The number of people was determined on the basis of skull fragments. It is possible that there were many more victims. These remains were brought in and placed in the grave in 1957. The middle grave probably hides the remains of Jewish citizens exhumed from the parish cemetery. In the area of the "small cemetery" there are memorial plaques and an obelisk informing about these tragic events in the history of Leszno.
