Today, Sarnów is a district of the city of Rawicz, and once a small town, existing independently for several hundred years. Windmills are a characteristic element of the former Greater Poland landscape. The Sarnowski windmill, built in the 19th century, belongs to the most common and oldest group of mills, the so-called koźlaków, and is also the last of the 20 windmills that once existed there. Where did the name come from? Well, the basis of the whole building is a wooden so-called a goat constructed of large logs. I will not write about it here, because I do not know it, but you talked about it very interestingly, we were only unhappy, because he did not have a key to the interior. In addition to stones, almost all elements of the Bock are wooden, it still has an interesting mechanism - a rotational speed regulator, and a massive beam protruding from the bottom of the structure allows you to set the whole building in the direction of the blowing wind. Three, four strong men are needed to turn. The windmill is now private property. At the end of the 90s, it was renovated by Kazimierz Damazyn. Currently, the windmill belongs to Marek Żurek and was also renovated by him.
