The demarcation and settlement of the street is connected with the arrival of German settlers to Chodzież, mainly weavers from the burnt Leszno. Thanks to them, weaving then became the most developed industry in the city. Craft houses were built on narrow plots, separated from each other by passages to farm buildings. At the back of the buildings there used to be wooden workshops and warehouses for storing cloth. They were built in the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries in a half-timbered half-timbered structure and some are completely made of stone, facing the street with gables.
