The main gate of the cemetery, 77 meters wide, was built in the Neo-Romanesque style in 1901-1903. The main designer was Wilhelm Meyer-Schwartau (with the collaboration of architect Boldt, city construction assistant Deitchl). The sculptural decor was made by the artist Bolcke from Szczecin. Two wings adjoined the gate: the eastern one intended for the cemetery administration and the western one with economic facilities. The gate was seriously damaged in September 1941 during an Allied air raid on the city (the entire documentation of the cemetery was also burned at that time). The rebuilding of the gate began in 1959, but the dome with the cross that originally crowned the gate was not recreated. The second change compared to the pre-war state was the demolition of the eastern wing to the ground level and the erection of a cemetery chapel in its place (known in the then nomenclature as the "funeral home").
