Behind the Szczrbrzeska Gate next to the car park is a small one-story classicist building, covered with earth embankment - this is a stronghold. It was built in 1825. Its brick wall with a row of shooting ranges on the west wall, stone beams, arcades and gargoyles are similar to the remaining fortress buildings erected in Zamość in the 19th century.

Zamość, this is a must see. How a person can change the landscape. Beautiful town with a beautiful market. Little hotels, we were unable to search for a free adhoc room

One of the elements forming the Zamość Fortress located outside its walls was the guardhouse building, which stands near the Szczebrzeska Gate. He played the role of a redoubt guarding access to it, meaning entering the city from the south side. The guardhouse was built in 1821-25 and it has the form of a low, one-story building made of brick and stone. It is decorated with rusticated corners and partially walled arcades. Originally, the guardhouse consisted of two rooms: a large hall in the southern part with gates guarding the Szczebrzeska Gate and entry to it, as well as currently bricked arcades in the northern part of the city. After the recent renovation works completed in 2009, Wartownia looks just as impressive as the Szczebrzeska Gate standing nearby.

For those who did not know such a curiosity. This is where the concept "Swedish table" comes from - a story to read.
