In the first period of Zamosc's existence behind the walls from the south, there were swamps and swamps. In 1836 they were finally drained to improve health conditions in the fortress. The gate facilitated communication with defense and hydrotechnical devices located in the foreground. The remains of the Water Gate were accidentally encountered during earthworks carried out in 1978, and a few years later it was reconstructed along with 30 sections of curtain walls on both sides of the bed. Zamość is beautiful.
