Gierałtów is a vast town with slightly scattered buildings, located about 220 m above sea level. Until 1945 it operated under the German name of Gersdorf am Queis. The first historical records of the village come from the 14th century. the German romantic composer Richard Wagner and the Danish fabulist Hans Christian Andersen. Unfortunately, only a fragment of it and the palace park with the 115-year-old silver maple have survived to our times. In its history, Gierałtów was the property of many outstanding families, incl. Penzings from Pieńsk, Rechenbergs from Osiecznica and Kliczków, and in its vicinity there were rich deposits of quartzite, which were mined and processed in the local factory, providing work for local residents.
