The place commemorates the clash of Russian and German troops on November 23, 1914. Trenches of the Russians are still visible today. The winners were Germans who buried 500 Russian soldiers here, putting them a stone with an inscription that could be translated as follows: "500 brave Russian soldiers who died in this forest in November 1914, a heroic death for their homeland." The remains of Polish Army soldiers who died in 1939 also rest on the cemetery. Even in the sixties of the twentieth century there were many stone gravestones, which disappeared, apparently becoming a component of the foundations of the surrounding houses. The hill is commonly called "Hitler's Hill".

In the photo, the entrance to the memorial site of hundreds and even thousands of war victims. A quiet place of reflection. Very nice forest around, free parking at the entrance. You just have to reckon with the fact that access to it is via concrete slabs and a piece of gravel road.

The cemetery in the Gałkówek forest is located on a small hill.

Over 500 soldiers are buried and there is no trace of the cemetery and graves, it is a pity. It was a good tradition of the Great War to bury the fallen by the victorious side. The Germans did it with dignity, I saw many similar cemeteries, I do not know I was with the Russians with it, it is strange that the cemetery can be so devastated.
