Historical site commemorating insurgent fighting. On June 15, 1863, a battle of about 120 scythemen under the command of Colonel took place in the "Koziołek" forest. Antoni Korotyński with the Russian army in the majority of about 1,300 soldiers. The scythemen were surrounded and massacred in such an unequal battle, and after laying down their weapons, the Russian commander issued an order to shoot the already defenseless remaining Polish soldiers. Some of those killed in the fight and murdered insurgents were buried at the cemetery in Lututów. However, the Russians did not allow the corpses to be buried, which is why the bodies of some soldiers remaining on the battlefield were secretly transported to the forest at night and buried there by the local people. * * * A charming place, by a dirt road. Wide views of the fields. A large pine grows next to the monument and an old chapel stands on its trunk.
