Very nice architecture of the church ... Decoration of the city because there are not many of them ...
Ujście is a city whose name already appears in 1108 and is recorded in the chronicle of Gall Anonym.
Archaeological work carried out in the mid-twentieth century proves the existence of the castle in the seventh century. The stronghold in Ujscie was extended by Bolesław Chrobry, becoming an important fortress, guarding the crossing from the Pomeranian side. In 1655, Sweden began a war with the Commonwealth, entering Ujscie in its borders.
In the place of the old stronghold and the castle, there is now the Old Market Square. In the middle of the market in the years 1851-1852, an Evangelical half-timbered church was built, which after the end of World War II, for many years was used as a warehouse, succumbing to the ongoing devastation. In 1996, the renovation of the building began, in which currently exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and other cultural events are organized.
In 2009, on the square in front of a half-timbered church, a monument to a metallurgist was unveiled to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the foundry in Ujście.
